French prices index (CPI) grew by 0.5 percent in August after falling by 0.4 percent a month earlier as manufactured costs fuelled prices, official figures showed on Tuesday.
On year-on-year basis, the country's prices jumped by 2.2 percent, the national statistics institute Insee said.
August rise stemmed mainly from "the increase of prices of manufactured products at the end of summer sales."
As to energy goods, prices reported growing trend after increasing by 0.4 percent over the period due to electricity rates' growth.
Food costs inched down by 0.2 percent led by 3.6 percent decline in prices of fresh products while those of services rose slightly by 0.1 percent increase last month.
