Vice President of World Bank James Adams has affirmed that the international credit institution will continue its strong support for Vietnam to pursue sustainable development, poverty reduction, climate change adaptation among others.

Vice President James Adams made the statement at the anniversary to celebrate the Vietnam-World Bank partnership in Ha Noi on Friday.
He spoke highly of Vietnam’s socio-economic achievements, particularly in poverty reduction, as well as the effectiveness of the Vietnamese Government’s decisions to curb inflation, stabilize marcro-economy, and ensure social welfare.
So far, the World Bank has provided non-refundable aid or preferential credit loans capitalized at US $13.5 billion in total to assist Vietnam’s development course.
The international credit institution is drafting a new strategy for partnership with an aim to expand cooperation between Vietnam and the World Bank in the next five years.

Speaking at the anniversary, PM Nguyen Tan Dung appreciated the effective cooperation between Vietnam and its external partners, including the World Bank.
The Government chief hoped that the World Bank would focus its assistance on realizing three strategic breakthroughs like institution reform, workforce quality development, and infrastructure construction.
Vietnamese competent agencies will concretize prioritized aspects of the breakthroughs through commenting on the draft strategy for partnership for 2012 – 2016 period between the two sides, PM Dung said.
He believed that the Vietnam-World Bank partnership would continue to flourish in the time to come.
