Vietnam supports the G20 and APEC in realizing their target towards a strong, sustainable, and balanced development, affirmed Finance Minister Vuong Dinh Hue.
The Vietnamese finance chief made the statement at the 18th APEC Finance Ministers’ Meeting in Honolulu, the US.
The event took place in a critical time as the world’s economy has slowly recovered. The International Monetary Fund forecast that the global economic growth rate may stand at 4.0% this year compared to 5.1% in 2010.
APEC Finance Ministers all agreed on the importance of infrastructure development to spur economic growth in the Asia-Pacific region.
However, they noted that public financial resources are not enough for carrying out the work and the public-private partnership (PPP) is a good alternative in this case.
Vietnam is really interested in APEC economies’ experiences of mobilizing funds for infrastructure development, particularly the PPP model, which it is experimenting.
Finance Minister Hue took the occasion to call on international investors to pour investment in infrastructure in Vietnam./.
