Montenegro’s Economy Minister Vladimir Kavarić and his Ukrainian counterpart Andrii Klyuyev signed today in Kyiv the free trade agreement between the two states, which will enable Montenegro to resume its accession negotiations with the World Trade Organisation (WTO) and join the organisation in the near future.
Minister Kavarić said after the meeting that he was happy that this long expected agreement with Ukraine, agreed upon in July will enable the resumption of Montenegro’s WTO accession negotiations, which he explained is among the country’s top integration priorities in the area of free trade. He underlined that Montenegro is expecting to join the WTO very soon.
Minister Klyuyev underlined that Ukraine hopes the free trade agreement with Montenegro to help foster better communication between the two states and peoples and enhance their economic and overall cooperation. He said his country is on its way to signing similar agreements with the EU and Turkey and recalled that they signed an FTA with the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) just a short while before the signing of the FTA with Montenegro.
