France saw its gross domestic product (GDP) grow by 0.3 percent in the third quarter, down from an initial forecast of 0.4 percent, official data showed on Friday.
In its monthly economic report, France's national statistics institute Insee revised down the country's growth "due to the revision of some indicators available in first results notably for production."
But the growth accelerated compared with scanty growth in the second quarter. That was driven by high household expenditure, which increased by 0.3 percent after falling by 0.1 percent a quarter earlier, Insee said.
Excluding changes in inventories, total domestic demand drove the country's GDP up by 0.2 points against minus 4 points registered in second quarter.
As to investment, France reported a slowing trend as it inched up by 0.2 percent from 0.6 percent during the second quarter. Cash of non-financial firms fell by 0.6 percent over the period.
French sales abroad grew by 0.8 percent, while imports registered a 0.7-percent rise compared with a 1-percent fall during the previous quarter.
Facing threat of debt crisis contagion, France slashed its growth forecast to 1 percent next year from 1.75 percent./.
