Bulgaria's gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 1.7 percent to 53.5 billion U.S. dollars in 2011, according to flash estimates released Tuesday by the Bulgarian National Statistical Institute (NSI).
The growth figure is better than the 0.4-percent increase in 2010 and the five-percent drop in 2009, but far less than the growth of six percent in 2008.
The gross value added in the economy stood at 46.1 billion dollars in 2011, a real increase by 1.8 percent year on year, NSI said.
The industry sector created 31.2 percent of the economic added value and saw a growth of 1.7 compared to 2010, the data showed. Services and agriculture sectors contributed 63.2 percent and 5.6 percent of the total added value respectively, NSI said./.
