Montenegro had become a full member of the World Trade Organization (WTO), authorities of the Balkan country said Sunday.
Montenegro became the 154th WTO member after an entry protocol kicked in on Sunday, said a press release by the finance ministry.
The country has regarded the accession as one of its foreign policy priorities, which it says would send a positive signal to potential investors.
As a WTO member, Montenegro must comply with free trade rules and seek negotiated solutions of international trade disputes.
Montenegro applied for the WTO in 2004, and signed the entry protocol in December 2011./.
