The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and Viet Nam’s General Statistics Office (GSO) on November 19 launched the project supporting the implementation of the country’s Statistical Development Strategy 2011-2020.
Accordingly, the UNDP will provide a total non-refundable ODA loan of US$3 million and Viet Nam offers US$300,000 as corresponding capital.
The project helps central agencies to establish and supervise socio-economic development policies which guarantee the country’s growth quality.
Focus will be placed on completing statistical legal environment, improving statistical methods to international standards, and setting up a mechanism for coordination between Vietnamese relevant statistics agencies and partners, revealed GSO Deputy General Director Tran Thi Hang.
The project also provides technical assistance to develop the National Statistics Data Center in the GSO.
Earlier, on October 18, 2011, the PM ratified the Viet Nam Statistical Development Strategy 2011-2020 withvisions to 2030./.
