The seasonally adjusted industrial production in the 17-member eurozone slipped by 1.4 percent in October from the previous month, the European Union's (EU) statistical bureau Eurostat said on Wednesday.
In the wider 27-member EU, industrial production was also down by 1.0 percent month on month.
Production of durable goods in October fell by 3.8 percent in the eurozone and by 1.5 percent in the EU from the previous month, whereas capital goods production decreased by 3.0 percent and 2.3 percent respectively. Production of non-durable consumer goods gained by 1.2 percent and 0.6 percent respectively, while that of intermediate goods dropped by 1.2 percent and 1.0 percent. Production of energy also fell by 1.5 percent in eurozone and by 1.0 percent in EU.
Among the Member States for which data are available, industrial production fell in fourteen countries, rose in eight and remained stable in Romania. The highest decrease was registered in Estonia with a month-on-month fall of 5.3 percent, while the largest increase of 4.8 percent was found in Portugal./.
