Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung made an official visit to Laos from March 13-15 at the invitation of his Lao counterpart Thongsing Thammavong. In the afternoon of March 13, he and his entourage visited Xiangkhouang Province.

At the meeting with the Vietnamese delegation, Professor Somkok Mangnomek, the provincial chief, informed Prime Minister Dung on the achievements that his province gained in the last year, namely better infrastructure and higher average income per capita at over US$1,000 a year.
Besides, the province has boosted trade co-operation with Viet Nam’s central Nghe An Province. Bilateral trade turnover in 2012 between the two provinces surpassed US$30 million.
PM Dung highly appreciated the relations between the province with Vietnamese localities, especially with Son La, Nghe An and Thanh Hoa.
He expressed his hope that, in the coming time, Xiangkhouang Province will continue to boost co-operation with localities in Viet Nam.
PM Dung thanked authorities and people of the province for their active support in searching and moving the remains of Vietnamese soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the war time./.
