The consumer price index (CPI) in the two biggest cities – Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City – posted slight increases for two consecutive months.
The index rose 0.22% in Ha Noi and 0.17% in Ho Chi Minh city compared to the previous month, according to the municipal statistics offices.
Experts said that the decisions to raise petrol prices on June 14 and June 28 had vigorously affected transport prices and pushed up the index in the two biggest cities.
Last month, the country’s CPI went up 0.05% against May and 6.69% compared to the same period of 2012, the General Statistics Office reported.
Highest price rises were seen in other groups, including garment, headwear and footwear, up by 0.42%; entertainment, 0.4%; household appliances, 0.33%; beverage and cigarette, 0.32%; and medicine and healthcare services, 0.09%./.
