This co-operation should focus especially on using Japanese hi-tech models, he said at a reception held in Ha Noi for Takebe Tsutomu, Special Advisor to the Japan-Viet Nam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance.

Dung asked Tsutomu to encourage more Japanese firms to invest in large-scale projects in Viet Nam.

He also urged Japan to receive more Vietnamese apprentices, caregivers, trainees and other workers.

Welcoming Tsutomu's visit to Viet Nam, Dung said that the strategic partnership between Viet Nam and Japan has taken strong and effective steps forward, bringing about practical benefit for both sides."

Dung hoped that the Japanese official would continue efforts to boost co-operation and exchange activities like the Japanese Festival in Viet Nam and Vietnamese Festival in Japan, saying they would enhance understanding and trust between the two peoples.

He called for close co-operation between the two countries in building the Viet Nam – Japan University, which would benefit both present and future generations.

Tsutomu expressed high appreciation of Dung's visit to Japan early this month, saying the results of talks between the two prime ministers had made a strong impression on Japanese people.

"The Japan-Viet Nam relationship has taken a long and increasingly profound step," he said.

He pledged to use 20 years of experience in boosting bilateral exchange and co-operation to strengthen Japan-Viet Nam ties in various fields, including the Viet Nam – Japan University.

He would also encourage Japanese businesses to invest in the hi-tech industrial park as well as other major projects including the North-South high-speed railway and the Long Thanh International Airport, Tsutomu said.

The Japanese official said he would call for more Vietnamese trainees to be trained in the hi-tech agriculture industry to work in Japan.

He also said that he would follow up on PM Dung's request to research an appropriate site for growing the renowned Japanese cherry blossoms in Viet Nam./.
