Deputy PM Nguyen Thien Nhan (R) receives Chinese Vice Minister of Commerce, Chen Jian, Ha Noi, April 22, 2013
Deputy PM Nguyen Thien Nhan pointed to great trade potentials between the two countries, asking both sides to enhance their trade co-operation, and improve border commerce for a comprehensive and more sustainable growth and a narrower trade deficit.
Appreciating the Chinese side’s construction of food inspection and quarantine stations to minimize the risk of pandemic diseases and food safety violations along the common borders, he proposed that Chinese exporters should strictly follow international regulations on quality standards, especially those for food.
Deputy PM Nguyen Thien Nhan extended his condolences to Chinese people, particularly the victims of the recent devastated earthquake in Sichuan province.
Vice Minister Chen thanked Deputy PM Nguyen Thien Nhan for the condolences and conveyed the outcomes of the co-operation between the Chinese Ministry of Commerce (MOC) and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Viet Nam (MOIT), particularly the signing of a memorandum on bilateral co-operation in trading farm products.
He affirmed that the MOC will continue to boost the co-operation with the MOIT to lift up hindrances, encourage the production and improve the quality of farm products before they are exported./.
