Myanmar targets over 6 billion USD in foreign investment (Illustrative image. Source: VNA) Myanmar has set a goal of attracting over 6 billion USD of foreign direct investment (FDI) in the 2017-2018 fiscal year.
In the first four months of the fiscal year starting from April 1, 2017, Myanmar drew 3.1 billion USD from 20 countries, generating 30,000 job opportunities for local people.
China, Singapore, the Netherlands and the Republic of Korea topped the list of investors with China making up 26 percent of the total investment.
Attractive fields include industry, construction, transport and telecommunication.
Some 9.48 billion USD of FDI was poured into Myanmar in the 2015-2016 fiscal year, and 6.4 billion USD in the 2016-2017 fiscal year./.
