Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Quoc Dung, head of Viet Nam ASEAN SOM, made that statement at the discussion on ASEAN-Japan Partnership Overview within the framework of the symposium “ASEAN-Japan cooperation for prosperity” in Ha Noi on June 4.
Participants in the event included Japanese Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Takeo Mori, head of Japan ASEAN SOM, representatives and scholars from nations in ASEAN and Japan.
Speaking at the event, Dung highlighted the necessity to enhance peace, stability and prosperous development, suggesting the two sides continue close cooperation to take advantages of opportunities and overcome challenges.
For his side, Takeo Mori shared the viewpoint of Japan on free and open Indian Ocean and Pacific Ocean, asserting the importance of ensuring freedom of navigation and aviation, extending connectivity between waters on the regional peace, stability and prosperity.
During the discussion, scholars consented with speeches, stressing the importance of establishing belief and faithful attitudes, highlighting principles in the cooperative relations and regarding it as a crucial foundation for promoting practical and sustainable cooperation between ASEAN and partners in general and Japan in particular.
