The Vietnamese Ministry of Transport and the Lao Ministry of Public Works and Transport have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding several transport projects.
Under the terms of the agreement, the two sides will commence work to upgrade Laos’ Highway 2E from March this year, as well as conducting a survey in preparation for designing a railway line from Thaket to Mouda, which is on the border with Vietnam, and building a district road in Laos.
The two sides will also cooperate in executing a decision by the two Governments’ regarding the use of Vietnam’s Vung Ang seaport for cargo transport and trade between the two nations.
The MoU on transport will act as a basis for the two sides to sign an official treaty in August.
