The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved funding totaling 1.8 million USD to help Laos implement an infrastructure project in Champassak province, local media reported on Mar. 6.
The ADB-funded project will support the construction of river embankments, lookout posts, access roads, hiking trails, information and visitor centres, river piers, community lodges, and sanitary facilities in the region, according to the Vientiane Times.
The five-year project will also help to create jobs for local residents, whilst also protecting the environment and ethnic minorities./.
