The Thai Cabinet has approved a draft framework that would allow the government to seek foreign loans worth 72 billion baht (2 billion USD), Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said.
The framework, ratified on Mar. 10, will be submitted to Parliament for approval before the government can seek the foreign loans, The Nation newspaper on Mar. 11 quoted the PM as saying.
The cabinet also approved an increase in the public-debt amount for fiscal 2009, from 1.19 trillion baht to 1.31 trillion baht, The Nation said.
