Standing Deputy PM Nguyễn Sinh Hùng, when welcoming Laos’ Phongsali Province’s Mayor Khamsan Souvong this morning, urged northeastern provinces of the neighbor and Việt Nam’s northwest to cement commercial ties and upgrade border infrastructure to facilitate goods circulation, raise trade turnover and generate more jobs for local people.

Mr. Khamsan Souvong briefed the host leader about his working sessions with Việt Nam’s northern provinces of Vĩnh Phúc and Phú Thọ, hoping that his visit will open new chances of cooperation in various fields.
The Phongsali Mayor added that a number of plans and solutions had been put forth to further bilateral cooperation in the time to come. Vĩnh Phúc Province pledged to help Phongsali train graduates and post-graduates as well as grant US $100,000 for a provincial-level school.

The guest thanked the Vietnamese Government for its supports to the building of a highway connecting the northeast provinces of Laos to Việt Nam’s northwest.
Deputy PM Hùng suggested localities of the two countries consolidate and strengthen the special friendship and solidarity between Việt Nam and Laos.
The Vietnamese Government will continue to help Laos in such fields as hydroelectricity, mining, processing industry, and planting industrial crops, reiterated the Deputy PM.
He also stressed the need of education cooperation, especially training managers, and upgradation of infrastructure in border areas./.
