The Lao government expects to officially launch its e-government network linking government offices throughout the country in June, a local media reported.
The testing of the new system will begin in June and provincial government officials will be trained in the new program, Deputy Chief of the National Authority for Science and Technology Maydom Chanthanasin was quoted by the Vientiane Times newspaper as saying.
The construction of a 4-floor e-government office was started early this week. The 3,341sq.m building is estimated to cost one million USD to construct.
The e-government system is expected to be put into operation by 2011./.
