Vietnam will receive a 151 million USD soft loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to fund the construction of power plants in remote areas of the country, said the AFP.
Manila-based ADB was cited as saying that the loan will finance between 5-10 mini hydropower plants to serve communes in mountainous areas in Vietnam’s northern and central regions.
The loan is payable over 32 years and the projects are slated for completion by 2015.
Vietnam needs over three billion USD annually over the next 10 years to bring electricity to the nine percent of households that currently lack power./.
