World’s biggest airlines to launch flights to Vietnam

Northwest Airlines, a subsidiary of the world’s biggest carrier, Delta Air Lines, was licensed by the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam (CAAV) to open flights between Ho Chi Minh City and San Francisco and Los Angeles.
The license, coming into effect on June 1, allows Northwest Airlines to transport passengers to and from Vietnam, transiting in Tokyo.
The carrier will exploit 160-seat Boeing planes 757-200.
Its representative office is located in District 1 of Ho Chi Minh City.
From Tokyo, customers can find it easy to arrive in the US not only through Los Angeles and San Francisco, but also other gates, including Atlanta, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Detroit, Portland, and Seattle.
Earlier, the United Airlines was the first US carrier permitted to exploit daily flights between the US and Vietnam, with Hong Kong as the transit site.
Vietnam is now considered one of fastest growing markets in the world. In terms of aviation, the country ranks the sixth in ASEAN and the 42nd in the world, with three international and 19 domestic airports. About 43 foreign airlines are doing business here.
The aviation sector strives to expand business, occupying a top three position among ASEAN nations, with ten domestic airlines in maximum.
