The top leader of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Japanese PM entered a high-ranking talk this afternoon in Tokyo. Concluding the event, the two sides issued a joint statement re-affirming the Vietnam-Japan strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia.
The two leaders lauded the fruitful realization of the “cooperation program toward the strategic partnership” reached in December 2007.
Acknowledging recent progress in the multifaceted cooperation between the two countries, the leaders agreed to bring the Vietnam-Japan to a new height.
Accordingly, high-ranking visits will be carried out annually and exchanges and cooperation sped up at all echelons, especially among ministries, sectors, political parties, legislative bodies, localities and mass organizations.

The two sides pledged to expand cooperation in infrastructure development, transport, energy, manufacturing industry, auxiliary industries, IT and communications, disaster control and environment protection, nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, space industry.
The host high praised Vietnam’s commitment to anti-corruption in using Japan’s ODA.
The two sides stressed that they will pay attention to cooperation in culture, science, education and training.

Discussing international and regional issues of common concerns, General Secretary Nong Duc Manh and PM Taro Aso emphasized the need to join hands on international forums and in dealing with global issues, such as climate change, disarmament and non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
