Deputy PM Hoang Trung Hai on Tuesday hosted Mr. Laurence Carter, Director of the Infrastructure Advisory Department of the World Bank member, International Finance Corporation (IFC-WB).
On behalf of the Government, Deputy PM Hai extended his gratitude to WB’s support for Vietnam over the past time, suggesting IFC-WB continue to finance the country’s priority projects on energy security, expressways, and infrastructure for social development.
The host leader reiterated that the Vietnamese Government pledges to pursue the cause of renovation, comprehensive economic development, poverty eradication, and anti-corruption, waiting for further positive assistance from the WB.
He also called upon the WB to coordinate with relevant Vietnamese agencies to conclude the preparatory process for the country to early lend US $1-1.5 billion from the International Development Agency (IDA) and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) within the year of 2009.
Mr. Laurence Carter expressed his desire to enhance IFC’s advisory activities in infrastructure development in Vietnam through the WB’s overall program on public-private partnership (PPP).
