Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva will visit Hong Kong (China) on May 15 and brief businesspeople and investors on Thailand’s situation and the government’s latest economic stimulus package.
“I will meet all major groups and clarify our stance and policies so that they can make any decision based on accurate information about our country,” the PM was quoted by the Thai news agency (TNA) as saying on May 14.
After all of the political turmoil in recent months and years, foreign investors needed to know the real facts, he said.
Asked if the postponement of the ASEAN summit is likely to affect investor confidence, PM Abhisit said it should not be a problem because investors could see the Thai government’s measures to control the situation after the cancellation of the ASEAN summit in Pattaya were working well.
During his one-day trip, PM Abhisit will meet Hong Kong Chief Executive Donald Tsang. He said their meeting would focus on cooperation and regional development, not on the matter of ousted Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, according to TNA./.
