PM Dzung receives Japan’s leading enterprises
PM Nguyen Tan Dzung expressed his pleasure at fruitful operations of Japanese groups in Vietnam, stating that Vietnam considers foreign investors, including those from Japan, an indispensable component of its national economy.

The Vietnamese PM made the statement on Thursday in Tokyo while receiving leaders of some Japanese leading enterprises, including Sumitomo, Nomura, Marubenni, Soitz, and Taiheiyo.
He highly appreciated Japanese investors’ confidence in Vietnam’s prospects despite difficulties caused by the global economic turmoil.
The leader expressed his hope that the two countries’ business communities will promote their cooperation in conformity with the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan.
Representatives of Japanese enterprises confirmed their determination to continue investing in Vietnam in such fields as infrastructure building, energy, industry, finance, trade, and human resource training.
On the same day, PM Dzung welcomed Senator Hirohiko Nakamura, a close friend of the Vietnamese people, who has made significant contributions to the Vietnam-Japan friendship and cooperation.
Sumitomo is running three representative offices in Vietnam’s Ha Noi, Đa Nang and Ho Chi Minh City. The group involves in such fields as trading petroleum products, building industrial parks, producing steel, automobiles, heavy industries,communications and teaching Japanese for children.
Nomurais one of first international investment banks to open its representative office in Vietnam (1993). It poured over US $137 million into the Hải Phòng Industrial Park in 1994. Nomura is now proposing some specific measures to mobilize long-term low-cost capital resources to serve major projects in Vietnam.
Marubeni opened its offices in Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City in 1991. The group considers VietnNam one of its key markets in Asia. In Vietnam, it has mainly taken part in building infrastructure and trading in coal, crude oil, marine products and chemicals.
