Deputy PM, FM Pham Gia Khiem will lead the Vietnamese delegation to attend the 42nd ASEAN Ministers’ Meeting (AMM-42) and the related meetings slated for July 19-23 in Phuket, Thailand.
He related events include the ASEAN Ministers’ Meeting with China, Japan and the Republic of Korea (ASEAN+3); informal consultation of foreign ministers of the East Asia Summit (EAS), Post Ministerial Conferences (PMCs) and the 16th ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF).
AMM-42 is the most important annual meeting with the attendance of foreign ministers of ten ASEAN members and 17 partners.
AMM-42 and the related meetings focus on orientations and measures to speed up the construction of the ASEAN Community, the implementation of the ASEAN Charter, the cooperation between ASEAN and partners and the security process of ARF.
ASEAN countries and their partners will have chances to discuss some regional and international issues of common concern, especially impacts of the global financial and economic crisis.
