Laos plans to improve an investment promotion policy in Savan-Seno Special Economic Zone to attract more local and foreign investors come to invest in this area.
The discussion on investment promotion in central part of Laos, Savan-Seno Special Economic Zone, in Savannakhet province was held on 10 July, between the Lao government and International organizations.
Head of Cabinet Secretariat Committee to Lao Prime Minister’s Office, Mr Chattoulong Nakhavith presided over the meeting said the amendment of policy is to magnetize oversea investments and stimulate socio-economic development in Laos, especially in Savan-Seno Special Economic Zone, an important potential site for national economy.
Mr Shoichi Koba Yashi, an economist of John Deutsch Institute for the Study of Economic Policy said the socio-economic development in Savan-Seno Special Economic Zone would trend to be grown.
The economic growth in the special economic zone would increase if the Government gives more attention to support and cooperate in mobilising financial sources from oversea organizations to support the investment projects, he added. Laos has many potential sources based on its location, geography and natural resources.
At the meeting, participants have exchanged lessons and experiences on investment promotion in Savan-Seno Special Economic Zone.
