The businesses are involved in fisheries, wooden furniture, fine arts, handicrafts and engineering.
Tran Duy Dong, an expert from the American Market Policy Department under the Industry and Trade Ministry said that the survey will help Vietnamese enterprises to find more business opportunities in a number of states in the US , including Arizona and Colorado . It also aims to boost trade relations between the two countries.
According to the ministry, trade between Vietnam and the US in recent years has seen a rise in growth, especially after the Bilateral Trade Agreement between the two countries came into effect in late 2001.
Vietnam ’s export turnover from the US market increased from over 1 billion USD in 2001 to over 12 billion USD in 2008.
The figure in the first six months of the year was only 6.2 billion USD, a year-on-year decrease of 7 percent due to the global economic crisis. However, the fall was the smallest when compared to other markets.
Vietnam expects to earn 12.7 billion USD in 2009 from exports to the US .
