The construction of Minh Phu shrimp processing plant was started this morning in Chau Thanh suburban district, southern province of Hau Giang. Once coming into operation in 2012, with an average output of 20,000 tons a year, the plant will be the biggest one of its kind in the Mekong Delta region.

Applied with the state-of-the-art technology of shrimp processing, the plant is supposed to generate 10,000 jobs and yearly earn over US $180 million of export turnover.
Attending the launching ceremony, Deputy PM Hoang Trung Hai stressed that the combination between processing technology and aquatic potentials is an effective economic measure for not only Hau Giang Province but also the whole Mekong Delta region to get out of poverty and move forward.
The Deputy PM directed the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MIT) and the provincial authority to create favorable conditions including land allocation as well as administrative incentives for the investor to realize the project on schedule.
In return, Minh Phu Seafood Joint Stock Company, the investor of the project, was required to ensure the national regulations on technology, raw materials, sewage treatment, and environment protection. /.
