Vietnam produces first batch of bio-fuel

Bio-fuel has been successfully produced and become the country’s first locally-made by a local company.
The Dong Xanh (Green Field) joint-stock Company in the central province of Quang Nam has successfully produced 2,000 tons of ethanol and will be wholly purchased by PVB Company – an affiliate of the State-run Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PVN).
This product has been produced in line with the Government’s national plan on developing bio-fuels through 2025. Green Field has invested VND 600 billion in building an ethanol plant with annual capacity of 100,000 tons or 120 million liters.
After two years of construction, the Green Field’s plant has been put into operation with raw materials of cassava and sugarcane. The plant’s first batch of bio-fuel is used for automobiles and motorbikes at a price of VND2,000 per liter, lower than A92 petrol. Apart from creating 400 direct jobs, the plant has also employed tens of thousands of indirect jobs. Green Field's leaders said bio-fuel is good for autos and motors without any potential change to engine.
This bio-fuel is planned to consume in the local market before exporting to foreign countries, including Japan and Republic of Korea, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade./.
