Deputy PM Pham Gia Khiem emphasized that Vietnam wants to deepen its friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Timor-Leste and supports the Government of Timor-Leste in stabilizing the country, storing security and order for its national construction and development.
Showing his admiration to Vietnam’s renovation, diplomatic achievements and international integration, Timor-Leste’s Minister Costa highlighted that his Government always considers Vietnam an example of national construction and development.

The two FMs were pleased with good development of economic and trade ties between the two countries. The two-way trade turnover increased ten times, from US $5 million in 2003 up to US $56 miillion in 2008, and has reached US $71 million in the first seven months this year.
The two sides agreed to sign a framework agreement on economic, cultural and scientific cooperation, and other deals on investment protection and rice trading. A joint committee will be established soon.
The ministers underlined the necessity to expand bilateral cooperation into other fields of mutual benefits, such as agriculture, fisheries, petroleum and construction.
