The Euro-Asia Economic Forum 2009 opened in Xian, northwest China’s Shaanxi province on November 16.
The two-day forum saw the participation of 930 delegates from more than 60 countries and territories worldwide, including members and observers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), the United Nations organisations and representatives from the world top 500 companies.
With the theme of “Working together to facilitate economic recovery”, the forum has focused on issues regarding energy, finance, education and customs cooperation.
The first Europe-Asia economic forum was launched in Xian in 2005. The city was named the permanent venue for the biennial event in April 2007./.
