Though Vietnam is less developed than some other APEC members, it has always been so active in participating and contributing to the region’s cooperation activities with its highest responsibility.
In 2006 Vietnam hosted APEC 2006. The event was marked with a Joint Statement released by APEC leaders, advocating the Doha agenda.
During the year, Vietnam totally organized over 100 meetings of different scales, including APEC leaders’ summit, which gained strong confidence and respect from international friends.
Vietnam is now engaging in a wide range of APEC cooperation areas like comprehensive action plans (CAPs), customs procedures, ECOTECH, and APEC Business Traveling Card (ABTC) program.
The deeper Vietnam involves in APEC activities, the greater it contributes to consolidating and enhancing friendship, understanding and cooperation as well as expanding opportunities to share experience with other members.
The country now resolves to stand side by side with other APEC members to maintain sustainable growth and foster economic connectivity to make APEC a leading free trade area in the world.
