On the sideline of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland, PM Nguyen Tan Dung and his Belgian counterpart Yves Leterme met for an exchange of views on bilateral cooperation, specially in economics, trade, investment and development assistance.

PM Nguyen Tan Dung and Belgian PM Yves Leterme were pleasured with the recent achievements of the two countries in economic, commercial and investment cooperation.
However, the two-way trade turnover of US $1.1 billion in 2009 failed to meet respective potentials, remarked the two leaders, vowing to join efforts for better results in this field.
As the chair of ASEAN in 2010 and the president of the EU in the second half of 2010 respectively, Vietnam and Belgium should shake hands for the success of the 8th ASEM Summit in Brussels in October 2010, the two PMs stressed.
The Vietnamese Government chief took the occasion to thank the King of Belgium for granting ODA to Vietnam, the only recipient country in Asia, and supporting the latter at international forums.
He also recommended the two sides early conclude negotiations for the Post-2010 Cooperation Program and establish an inter-governmental committee to lift the bilateral ties to a new height.
Vietnam hopes to seek further assistantce from Belgium in signing the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PAC) with the EU, said Mr. Dung.
Lauding Vietnam’s achievements in socio-economic development and poverty reduction, Belgian PM Yves Leterme vowed to keep cooperating, supporting and assisting the Southeast Asian country in realizing its renovation and revitalizing its ties with the EU and member states./.
