OECD chief says Greece should seek multiple ways to counter crisis
Secretary General Jose Angel Gurria Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) says that Greece should pursue multiple ways to counter its fiscal crisis.
In a recent interview with Xinhua, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development chief said he was optimistic about the Greek economy because there were several solutions to the crisis.
"First of all, there is strong political will and very ambitious specific plan...Second, Greece is part of the European Union (EU). Third, Greece can go to international organizations if it wants," he said.
"It's a choice for Greece to go to international organizations," Gurria said, adding that whether to take this option "depends on the needs and reactions of the market."
In recent weeks, the heavily indebted Greek government has launched a series of measures, but with a debt of 20 billion euros (27 billion U.S. dollars) at term between April and May, Prime Minister George Papandreou said, if no concrete rescue plans turned up at the coming EU summit, he would turn to the International Monetary Fund for help./.
