Argentina seeks to regularize its debt of 7.5 billion U.S. dollars with the Club of Paris, Argentine Economy Minister Amado Boudou said Friday.
Boudou said the normalization of the ties with the Club of Paris was the second step to return to credit markets one day after the announcement of debt-swap for bondholders over 20 billion dollars defaulted since 2005.
"The Club of Paris will be the next step on the agenda, for sure. We have to see a strategy similar to the global exchange of the debt, where they can see the possibilities and needs of Argentina," Boudou told local radio station Diez.
The amount of the debt could be higher when interests of punishment were included, Boudou said.
Argentina borrowed the debt during its military government period of 1976-1983 for purchase of weapons. In September 2008, Argentine President Cristina Fernandez announced the decision to pay the debt./.
