The Australian Government has agreed to fund Vietnam AU $119.8 million which will be disbursed between July 2010 and June 2011 for improving infrastructure, human resource and education.

Australia will financially support Vietnam to improve healthcare services in 2010-2011

At least AU $32.6 million in the fund will be used for implementing important transport projects, including the construction of roads linking poor rural areas with the key transport and economic corridors.
The money is also spent on improving living standards of poor people by broadening their access to clean water and better sanitation in rural areas.
Australia pledges to annually give 275 post-graduate scholarships for Vietnamese students.
During the 2010-2011 fiscal year, Australia will also give financial assistance to improve Vietnam’s healthcare services and sharpen the local communities’ readiness to cope with disasters, recover and stabilize their daily life after natural disasters. Additionally, part of the fund will be given to the fight against cross-border challenges such as HIV/AIDS transmission, human trafficking, and drug smuggling./.
