Businessmen of Myanmar and South Korea are due to meet in Myanmar's biggest city of Yangon later on Monday for discussions on further economic and trade cooperation, traders circle said on Monday.
South Korean side is represented by 10 giant companies dealing with robot game, machinery, cosmetic and pharmaceutical, communication, electricity equipment and transformer, motor car, engine and generator.
Meanwhile, Korean Importers Association has sought trade and investment in Myanmar's mining, agriculture, forestry, marine, pharmaceutical, hotel, construction, electronic and computer sectors.
According to the latest official statistics, Myanmar-South Korea bilateral trade amounted to 194.37 million U.S. dollars in the first 11 months of the 2009-10 fiscal year, of which Myanmar's export to Korea took 45.06 million dollars, while its import from Korea stood 149.31 million dollars.
Besides, South Korea's investment in Myanmar reached 240 million U.S. dollars up to November last year since 1988, standing as the 10th largest foreign investor in the country.
The East Asian country's investment in 37 projects accounted for 1.52 percent of Myanmar's total foreign investment of over 15 billion dollars.
