A Vietnamese delegation led by Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Ngo Duc Thang has visited three Thai provinces to promote sub-regional links between them and central Vietnamese localities.
The delegation made a fact-finding tour and held working sessions with administration officials from Nakhon Phanom, Mukdahan and Ubon Ratchathani provinces.
Both sides agreed upon proposals to boost bilateral cooperation and establish a procedure for Vietnamese workers in the Thai provinces.
The Thai authorities said they will continue to create favourable conditions for overseas Vietnamese to do business and integrate into the local community.
These provinces posses strategic transport facilities for developing sub-regional links.
In Nakhon Phanom, the construction of the third friendship bridge connecting Thailand to Lao is underway and is expected to complete in August 2010. The bridge will facilitate the transport of goods from Vietnam to Thai provinces.
In Mukdahan province, provincial leaders discussed measures to make the best of transport facilities to boost trade links.
Ambassador Thang said the Thailand-Lao friendship bridge has greatly benefited cooperation between Vietnam’s central provinces and Thailand, and Road No 9 in southern Lao has facilitated the three countries’ goods transport.
Provincial leaders from Ubon Ratchathani said the province has built two transport projects to enhance trade links and goods transport with Vietnam’s central localities.
During the trip, the delegation also visited the Vietnamese Association in Thailand and late President Ho Chi Minh’s house in Nakhon Phanom./.
