Tan Bien district in the southwestern province of Tay Ninh and Romeas Haek district in the Cambodian province of Svay Rieng have agreed to open an auxiliary border gate on the shared borderline.
An agreement to this effect was signed between officials of the two districts on July 23.
The Ben Nam Chi – Ta Ro border gate will be the 11 th of its kind to be opened along the border between Tay Ninh and Cambodian provinces to facilitate people’s travel and the flow of goods from both nations.
In recent years, Tay Ninh authorities have exempted import tariffs for goods worth less than 2 million VND a person a day, and opened quarantine areas for imported animals.
Statistics shows two-way trade turnover via border gates between Tay Ninh and Cambodia provinces reached 150 million USD in the first seven months of this year, 50 million USD higher than the same period last year.
Vietnam’s imports include rubber, timber, processed rubber latex, cassava, maize, cigarettes and cattle, while its exports are plastic products, fruit and vegetables, instant noodles and handicrafts./.
