Vietnamese State President Nguyen Minh Triet and his entourage today left Ha Noi for New York to partake in the United Nations high-level plenary meeting on the Millennium Development Goals (MDG Summit) from September 20-22.

The Summit aims to undertake a comprehensive review of successes, best practices and lessons, obstacles and gaps, challenges and opportunities, “leading to concrete strategies for action” towards the on-schedule fulfillment of all MDGs by 2015,
Vietnam is widely recognized by the international community as one of the leading countries early fulfilling MDGs. The Southeast Asian country has finalized five out of eight MDGs ahead of schedule and is striving to complete the remain targets by 2015.
At the invitation of US President Barrack Obama, on September 24, State President Triet and President Obama will co-chair the second meeting between ASEAN and US leaders in New York City./.
