Vietnamese investors in 2010 registered a total investment value of US $3 billion in 107 projects in 25 countries and territories, according to the Foreign Investment Agency (FIA) under the Ministry of Planning and Investment.
Of the figure, around US $900 million was disbursed in such fields as mineral exploitation (US $700 million), agro-forestry-fishery sector (US $70 million), wholesale-retail distribution (US $53 million), telecommunication (US $33 million), and electricity generation (US $25 million), reported the FIA.
However, the FIA acknowledged that majority of outbound investment projects are in initial stages and contribute modestly to the socio-economic development.
In 2011, outbound investment is expected to be US $1.5-2 billion and capital disbursement may reach US $700-900 million./.
