Viet Nam hopes that the United Nations would continue its assistance to the Southeast Asian country to fulfill millennium development goals (MDGs), particularly for poverty reduction, gender equality, and social welfare, said PM Nguyen Tan Dung.

PM Dung made the statement during his meeting with UN Resident Coordinator in Viet Nam, John Hendra, in Ha Noi on April 26.
The Government chief explained that Viet Nam is implementing a package of solutions to rein in inflation and social welfare, especially for most vulnerable groups, the country’s first priorities.
He spoke highly of John Hendra’s valuable contributions to boost the relations between Viet Nam and the UN.
Mr. John Hendra, who has ended his working term in Viet Nam, highlighted the country’s tremendous socio-economic achievements, including poverty reduction, international integration, and fulfillment of almost all UN-backed MDGs.
The UN will continue supporting Viet Nam to realize socio-economic targets and MDGs, he stressed./.
