The executive board of the World Bank (WB) on June 7 approved a credit worth of US $160 million for Vietnam to help it protect water resources in the Mekong Delta.
The credit, sourced from the International Development Association (IDA), will also help Việt Nam to use water resources in the Mekong Delta for agricultural production and people’s daily use to gradually adapt to climate change.
The IDA’ credit has a term of 35 years with a low interest rate, including a grace period of 10 years.
The IDA has provided credits and non-refundable aid worth of US $222 billion for least-developed countries, mainly African countries, for such areas as healthcare development, education, agriculture, infrastructure, economics, and institutional development./.
