Vietnam has continued highlighting its role as an active, proactive and responsible of ASEAN and making contributions to regional issues, said PM Nguyen Tan Dung.
PM Nguyen Tan Dung and the Vietnamese delegation left Phnom Penh on April 4 after the 20th ASEAN Summit successfully concluded.
Earlier, at the retreat session of the 20th ASEAN Summit, PM Nguyen Tan Dung voiced the country’s support for the theme “ASEAN: One community, One destiny”, noting that a united, strong and closely linked ASEAN will help raise its role and voice at the international arena.
PM Dung underlined the necessity for the bloc to define effective measures to build the ASEAN community, uphold the role of the ASEAN Coordinating Council, encourage partners to make contribution to regional peace, security and cooperation and consolidate ASEAN’s central status.
The Vietnamese Government chief proposed ASEAN strengthen common positions on issues of common concern.
The PM suggested the bloc continue to give a priority to the Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity to realize regional-level and national-level commitments to connect infrastructure, institutions, people, and facilitate trade circulation, services and investment.
ASEAN member states were asked to speed up the reached agreements especially on anti-drug trafficking./.
