Argentina has accepted the request for consultation on the part of the European Union before the World Trade Organization (WTO) on the current foreign commercial policy measures undertaken by Argentina although it rejected each and all of the questioned items, informed the Foreign Office this morning.
The National Government "once again expressed its willingness to talk and proposed to the European counterpart the beginning of consultations in the city of Geneva", read a press release.
Argentina remarked in its notification to the European Union that it is a country "which complies with the rules and procedures of international entities it is a member of".
Last May, 25th, the European Union presented a request for consultation in the context of the WTO system for dispute settlement and Argentina had ten days to reply to such request. The press release adds that "a member State of the European Union disregards 39 resolutions passed by the United Nations”, in reference to the United Kingdom´s unwillingness to face the sovereignty claims over the Malvinas Islands.
"Our country will take part in the consultation process with the objective of defending the current legitimate policies", concludes the press release./.
