As of late September 2012, Vietnamese investors have poured over US$15 billion in 736 projects overseas, according to the Foreign Investment Agency (FIA).
In the first nine months of this year, outbound investment valued around US$1.3 billion.
The FIA reported that in the reviewed period, the Ministry of Planning and Investment granted overseas investment licenses to 66 projects worth almost US$1.217 billion.
Vietnamese investors are chiefly engaging in agro-forestry (14 projects), wholesale and retail, and repairing (11 projects), industrial processing and manufacturing (8 projects); and on mining ores (8 projects).
They have mainly invested in Laos with around US$3.8 billion; followed by Cambodia about US$2.6 billion; the US, almost US$306 million; and Singapore, US$87 million./.
