The event was jointly organized by the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI), Viet Nam’s Association of Foreign-Invested Enterprises (VAFIE) and the Viet Nam-Laos-Cambodia Association for Economic Cooperation Development.
According to the Foreign Investment Department, under the MPI, five Vietnamese provinces in the CLVDT have attracted 75 projects from Laos and Cambodia with the total registered capital of US$95.5 million.
Vietnamese businesses have poured US$3.09 billion in 75 projects in Lao and Cambodian provinces in the CLVDT.
These projects, focusing on natural resources exploitation and processing, growing industrial plants, construction and manufacturing, are expected to guarantee the economic effectiveness for investors, promote national defense and socio-economic development in bordering localities.
Delegates at the forum proposed that the three nations should cooperate in establishing joint mechanisms and policies to attract more investment, Official Development Assistance (ODA) and Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) from outsiders to this area.
The CLVDT Overall Program approved by the three governments should also be put into reality, they said.
The CLVDT comprises 13 provinces – Mondulkiri, Stung Treng, Rattanakiri and Kratie of Cambodia, Attapeu, Saravan, Sekong and Champassak of Laos, and Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Dak Nong and Binh Phuoc of Viet Nam.
The triangle area covers 144,600 square kilometers with a population of 7 million.
