Uzbekistan's gross domestic product (GDP) grew 8 percent in the first half of this year, Uzbek Prime Minister Shavkat Mirziyaev said here on Tuesday.
Mirziyaev told a government meeting that the country's industrial output increased 8.2 percent during the January-June period, while agricultural output advanced 7.3 percent.
Inflation did not exceed the target level during the period, Mirziyaev added.
In January, the Washington-based World Bank released a baseline economic forecast, predicting that Uzbekistan's economy will grow 7.5 percent in 2013.
